Obama in weekly address: Push for mortgage reform
In his weekly address broadcast Saturday, President Barack Obama called on supporters of his mortgage reform proposal to pressure Congress into passing the legislation — telling voters to remind their representatives who they work for. “I need everyone who agrees with this plan to get on the phone, send an email, tweet, pay a visit, and remind your representatives in Washington who they work for. Generation Google Scholarship Helping Minorities Attend College to Excel in Technology
We always talk about getting more minority youth interested in pursuing education in technology fields, but once the interest is there, then comes the issue of funding that interest. College tuition cost being high, is a definite understatement, but thanks to The Generation Google Scholarship , there is an opportunity to help pay for it. Google is offering graduating high school seniors from an underrepresented group including African-Americans, Hispanic, women, etc. in computer science. The scholarship is available to aspiring computer scientists planning to attend a 4-year university in the fall to study computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or any related field. Applicants should demonstrate leadership and a commitment to and passion for computer science and technology through involvement in their community. In addition, applicants should have a strong academic record, be from an underrepresented group in computer science and demonstrate financial need. How can Latino students make their dreams come true? That's one of the topics that was center stage at a daylong event devoted to Latino students' academic achievements.
